Considered a pioneer in bringing mindfulness-based meditation practices to underrepresented communities, Spring Washam is a well-known teacher, healer, and visionary leader based in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the author of A Fierce Heart: Finding Strength, Courage and Wisdom in Any Moment and The Spirit of Harriet Tubman: Awakening from the Underground.
Spring has been a devoted Buddhist practitioner in both the Theravāda and Tibetan schools of Buddhism for more than 25 years, while remaining open to diverse pathways for sharing messages of courage and love.
Spring is one of the founding teachers at the East Bay Meditation Center, an organization that offers Buddhist teachings with attention to social justice. She is a long-time teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, offering teachings on Buddhist philosophy, Insight meditation and loving-kindness practices. Separate from Spirit Rock, Spring is also the founder of Lotus Vine Journey a one-of-a-kind organization that blends indigenous healing practices with Buddhist wisdom for transformative retreats across the world. With over a decade of study in shamanic and indigenous traditions, her work bridges ancient healing and contemporary awakening.
At the heart of all her teachings is a devotion to love and compassion, rooted in the intention to awaken the great heart within us all a radiant source of wisdom, empathy, and boundless potential. Through her work, Spring invites us to remember who we truly are and to walk the path of transformation with courage, presence, and care.
