The four Brahma-Viharas also translated as the four heavenly abodes represent the most beautiful and benevolent aspects of our human nature. As a result, the boundless states of loving-kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity manifest as forces of purification transforming the turbulent heart into a refuge of calm, focused awareness.
They are mindfulness practices that protect the mind from falling into habitual patterns of reactivity which undermine our sincerest intentions to be happy. Also referred to as mind liberating practices, they awaken powerful healing energies which brighten and lift the mind to increasing levels of clarity. In this daylong we will practice cultivating these beautiful qualities and ground them in the practice of insight meditation.

Due to popular demand I am offering another 4 week course intensive for women. This will be the last time this course will be offered this year.

This requires a commitment to the entire program including attending the 3 evening sessions, home work and the daylong retreat. We will gather together and explore the theme of the sacred feminine in much greater detail.

In this course we will explore a time when all things feminine were recognized as a powerful part of creation. Each week will focus on a specific area of internalized oppression as we begin to let go and liberate ourselves. Awakening the Sacred Feminine and taking her into the everyday is the only answer. We can begin the healing process through forgiveness, self compassion and empowerment. We will create a safe container where women can share authentically and deeply connect to one another.
The class is going to be very powerful and limited to 20 participants only.

In this retreat, we explore the body through sitting and walking meditation and guided movement classes. We investigate how the body can be a portal to skillfully working with difficult emotions. We concentrate on developing mindfulness of the body in order to be more comfortable in and knowledgeable about our bodies. And we work with body awareness to make sitting more focused and enjoyable and as a means to strengthen insight.

Lovingkindness, or metta, is the practice of cultivating a warm, open heart towards ourselves and others, as a basic way of being in the world. It is also a path to wisdom. We cultivate metta as a meditation practice in order for it to manifest in an ongoing way in our daily lives. We grow in self-acceptance and compassion, work through our harsh judgments of self and others, and become better able to act from our hearts in daily life.

In this retreat, we will learn the formal practice of metta, developing greater steadiness of mind and heart, and revealing more and more our fundamental kindness.

When women lose touch with their real selves, the harmony of the world ceases to exist and destruction sets in. It is therefore crucial that every woman, everywhere, make every effort to re-discover her fundamental nature, for only then can we save this world."...Mata Amritanandamayima (Ammachi)

Within each woman there is a reservoir of creative energy and intuitive wisdom that can fuel our spiritual awakening - and support our passionate participation in the interconnected web of life. Join a diverse circle of women on the path of embodied presence in this meditation retreat designed to awaken the gifts, creativity, and innate wisdom of women - while addressing the particular suffering of women's bodies, hearts and lives.

Whatever our age, ethnicity, body type, or sexual orientation, as women we share a common longing to heal our hearts, awaken to our own inherent wholeness, honor our interconnectedness, and take empowered action to help our world.

Within the safe and nourishing container of this silent retreat, we'll cultivate an approach to meditative practice that honors the creative, intuitive, embodied, and relational dimensions of a woman's spiritual journey. We will use the tools of mindfulness meditation, loving kindness, body-based practices, mandala drawing, inquiry, and community sharing to melt the personal and cultural conditioning that may keep us from experiencing our essential value.
